Comprehensive... Authoritative... Reliable

CAS, the global leader in chemical information, and a division of the American Chemical Society, provides the most comprehensive databases of disclosed research in chemistry and related sciences, including the world's largest collection of substance information, the CAS REGISTRYSM.

CAS makes this information available to researchers through SciFinder and STN, the best search and retrieval tools for scientists and information professionals.

Element 112The Not-So-New Chemical Element 112

Recent headlines tout that "a new element" will soon be added to the 140-year-old periodic table of chemical elements.  However, the super heavy element known as ununbium (Uub), or element 112, is far from new.  In fact, it has been among the elements found on standard periodic tables for several years and included in CAS REGISTRY since 1975.

CAS Launches Free Web-Based Resource "Common Chemistry" for General Public

Common Chemistry Common ChemistryTM is a resource providing information on approximately 7800 chemical substances of general and widespread interest.  It is helpful to non-chemists who know a chemical name or CAS Registry Number of a common everyday chemical and want to pair both pieces of information.  Reciprocal links to Wikipedia records are provided in collaboration with Wikipedia volunteers.  Read the News Release.
