You can use standard Mac OS X features to create an organization-specific SciFinder Scholar Application Package. Searchers will be able to install and use SciFinder Scholar for Mac OS X with only a few mouse clicks.
- Applicable to current SciFinder Scholar for Mac OS X installers.
- As of May 2008 - Versions 2006, 2007, and 2007a
- Complete the installation and addition of your site.prf file to the SciFinder Scholar Application Package.
- Select the SciFinder Scholar Application Package.
- Use the Actions button (gear and triangle) and choose Create Archive of "SciFinder Scholar.app"

It will take several seconds to make the zip file:
- Distribute the "SciFinder Scholar.app.zip" (or SciFinder Scholar.zip depending on your system settings). You may also edit the file name - e.g. sfs2007a-osx.zip
- Instructions for your patrons:
1. Copy the "SciFinder Scholar.app.zip" (or your_name.zip) file into the Applications folder on your Macintosh.
2. Double-click "SciFinder Scholar.app.zip" (or your_name.zip) to extract the SciFinder Scholar Application Package to your Applications folder.
Note: Admin level permissions may be needed to follow instructions 1 & 2.
If you can not access the Applications folder, use your Home Folder instead.
3. You are now ready to run SciFinder Scholar by double clicking on the SciFinder Scholar icon.
4. Optional: You may create an alias to the SciFinder Scholar application package to place on your Desktop or Dock.
