  • How much does it cost to participate in the program?

  • How much does it cost to participate in the program?

There is no cost for an institution to participate.  All materials and online searching in the program databases are provided free of charge.

  • What qualifications are required to participate in the program?

Eligible colleges and universities must offer a graduate-level library science, information science, or a similar program designed to train information professionals.  Participants must also agree to the Terms and Conditions of the STN LIS Training Program.

  • How is a college or university enrolled in the program?

A designee of the college or university must sign and return the STN LIS Training Program Agreement form.  Once registered, any faculty teaching a qualifying class at the college or university may request login IDs and program materials independently.

  • Does the program provide any materials to support faculty in teaching STN?

Training materials are available in print and electronic format, including the STN LIS Training Program Workbook and PowerPoint slide presentation, Quick Reference Card, hands-on Skills Practice Problems and Suggested Solutions, and the CAS Catalog.

The program provides assistance from CAS staff for any training needs, including on-site or WebEx training sessions for faculty and students.  To arrange for training, please e-mail stnlis@cas.org.  For a list of additional instructor-led and web-based training opportunities, visit STN Training.

For general questions and comments regarding the program, contact CAS Customer Care.  Students or faculty with questions regarding STN searching should call CAS Customer Care and select option 3 (STN Help Desk).
