How to... Refine Substance Answer Sets

Refine is one of the many SciFinder tools that allow you to explore, evaluate, and review your substance answer sets. Refining can help you extract the most relevant substances from your answer set.

When substances are displayed in your main SciFinder window, click the Analyze/Refine button. Then click Refine. |

Select an option for focusing your answer set. |
- You may refine (and/or analyze) multiple times with any combination of the options.

| Chemical Structure |
That contain an additional or particular structural component. |
| Isotope-Containing Substances |
That include the presence of isotopic labels. |
| Metal-Containing Substances |
That include one or more metals. |
| Commercial Availability |
For which commercial supplier information is available. |
| Property Data |
That have a specific property value. |
| Property Availability |
For which experimental or predicted (calculated) properties are available.
For which a particular property is available. |
| Reference Availability |
For which journal or patent references are available. | |

For example, select Property Availability. Then select the specific property or properties of interest. Click OK. |
