How to... Refine Reference Answer Sets

Refine is one of the many SciFinder tools that allow you to explore, evaluate, and review your reference answer sets.

When references are displayed in your main SciFinder window, Refine lets you reduce the size of your answer set based on the selected criteria.
The Refine by sidebar is located at the lower right side of your answer set. |


You may refine multiple times with any combination of the options.

Contain additional technical terminology |
| Author Name |
Were written by a particular author |
| Company Name |
Originate from a particular organization or university |
| Document Type |
Came from a particular category of source document |
| Publication Year |
Were published in a particular timeframe |
| Language |
Were written in a particular language |
| Database |
Came from a specific database |

Select an option for refining your answer set. Then specify the required information.
For example, if you choose Document Type, specify the document type(s) from the list displayed.
Click Refine. |

Review your answers.
This answer set contains only references that meet the criteria you specified. You can use the breadcrumb trail to return to the previous answer set. |
