IFIREF reloaded with enhancements
IFI Uniterm and U.S. Class Reference (IFIREF) has been reloaded with the following enhancements.
New search and display fields:
- Patent Assignee (PA)
- International Patent Classification (IPC)
Additional enhancements:
- Eight-digit searchable accession numbers are now available
- The Controlled Term (CT) field now includes NOTE display
- IPC and CLASS are now in the File Segment (FS) field
- Simultaneous left and right truncation (SLART) is now available in the Basic Index (BI) field
- The file segment set range values have been removed
- The stop word list has been removed from the Basic Index (BI) and Controlled Word (CW) fields

IMSPRODUCT reloaded with enhancements
IMS LifeCycle, New Product Focus (IMSPRODUCT) has been reloaded with enhancements, including displayable and selectable CAS Registry Number identifiers. For crossover to the CAS REGISTRY record, CAS Registry Numbers are also hyperlinked.
Additional enhancements include:
- The Chemical Name (CN) display field now separates the Chemical Name and Trade Name of a compound
- The Document Number (DN) format now contains a leading L in place of a zero
- Simultaneous left and right truncation (SLART) is now available in the Basic Index (BI) field
- The File Segment (FS) field has been removed

PCI now available as a replacement to DPCI
Patents Citation Index (PCI) is now available on STN and will replace Derwent Patents Citation Index (DPCI). DPCI will continue to be available on STN as a static database through March 14, 2008. You may need to update existing procedures, including scripts, to work with PCI.
New features available in PCI:
- Extended coverage
- Stop words no longer used
- Additional priority application numbers
- Additional Thomson Scientific standard application numbers (/APTS and /PRTS)
- More focused content
PCI is a unique database of examiner citations from patents and literature, including 98 million patent and 11 million literature citations from more than 8 million patent families. Bibliographic patent family data from Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI), all patents and literature cited by examiners, and references to citing patents are included in PCI.
Coverage includes patent citations from 1973 to the present from the European Patent Office (EP), World Intellectual Property Organization (WO), and patent-issuing authorities in the following countries:
- Belgium (BE)
- France (FR)
- Germany (DE)
- Japan (JP)
- Netherlands (NL)
- Spain (ES)
- United Kingdom (GB)
- United States (US)
PCI also includes examiner and author citations from 16 patent-issuing authorities from mid-1994 to May 1997.
