STN on the Web Enhanced with New Patent Family Assistant and Updated Structure Plug-In STN on the Web was updated to include a new Patent Family Assistant and an updated Structure Plug-in. The new Patent Family Assistant is located in the Assistants folder (previously Search Assistants folder) and allows you to:
Take advantage of improved structure drawing and searching capabilities available with the updated Structure Plug-in (version 8.5). *This feature of the new Patent Family Assistant is also new to STN. MARPAT Enhancements Save Time and Increase Usability Save time in post-search answer review with enhanced query-focused displays in MARPAT. The QHIT and FQHIT display formats have been enhanced to provide more recognizable results by assembling the query-focused fragments. The assembled answers increase understanding for users, while making it easier to share MARPAT information with other decision-makers. Current FQHIT Display

The new assembled displays will be the default for these formats. The SET MPTASSEMBLY command can be used to select ON, OFF or BOTH displays in these formats. SET MPTASSEMBLY BOTH will display the new assembled structure and the old format. Two new MARPAT display formats, FQHITEXG and QHITEXG, are also being introduced. In addition to the FQHIT and QHIT information, these formats will provide definitions for all unmatched G-groups shown in the answer. FQHITEXG defines all unmatched G-groups
In addition, enhancements to the MARPAT search algorithm have been implemented to increase search precision in CSS (Closed Substructure Search) searches that employ connectivity settings.
INPADOC: Delay of German Patent Coverage The European Patent Office informed us about significant delays of the coverage of German bibliographic and legal status data in INPADOC from the week 25/2011 (June 12-8):
On STN, bibliographic data of German patent publications are also available in the patent full-text database PATDPAFULL and in the value-added databases CAplus and Derwent World Patents Index. These databases are not affected and will provide German patent data as usual. We will keep you informed about further developments. INPADOC Databases Enhanced with First Page Images The INPADOC databases INPADOCDB and INPAFAMDB have been enhanced with first page images for patent publications of 8 major patent authorities. This new graphical information greatly supports relevance checking of technology search results. First page images can be displayed with the standard display format GI and several predefined display formats in both INPADOC files. For a list of image display formats and coverage details see INPADOC News 2011/06: http://www.stn-international.com/inpadoc_news_201106.html
WPINDEX/WPIDS/WPIX: DWPI Country Coverage Update Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI) now also covers patents from Poland and Hong Kong. This brings the number of authorities covered in DWPI to 47, further strengthening the global coverage of editorially enhanced content in the file. Coverage includes DWPI titles and/or abstracts with CPI/EPI manual coding, and for the Polish content deep indexing (polymer indexing, fragmentation codes and Markush Indexing) where relevant. The first records to be released will be those published in January 2011. Patents filed through the Gulf Cooperation Council The Gulf Cooperation Council regional office covers the following Arab states - Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates. Records identified as basics will include DWPI titles and abstracts, CPI/EPI manual coding and deep indexing (polymer indexing, fragmentation codes and Markush Indexing) where relevant. Records identified as equivalent already joined their existing DWPI family as normal. The number formats for the new content are shown below. Document Description: Gulf Cooperation Council Granted Taiwanese Utility Models The kind codes for the Utility Models published from 2000 to August 2004, will change from the kind U to kind U1 to ensure consistency for these old law records. All of the records will be reissued into DWPI with this amended kind code. The 'new law' Utility Model records published from August 2004 onwards will continue to have the kind code U as is currently the case. Updates to the ongoing data are currently on hold and will resume once the 2000-2004 data has been reissued.
