CAS databases on STN enhanced with NANO super role in records back to 1992

The nanomaterial substances (NANO) super role has been added to records in the CAS databases back to 1992, providing more comprehensive substance retrieval in the CA/CAplus family of databases and CAS REGISTRY.

For more information, enter HELP ROLES at an arrow prompt (=>) in CA/CAplus and REGISTRY or refer to the STN Quick Reference Card on CAS roles in CA/CAplus.

For additional information about CA/CAplus and REGISTRY, refer to the STN Database Summary Sheet.

DGENE, PCTGEN, and USGENE enhanced with increased limits for exact sequence match searches and introduction of free HIT display format

To address the exponential growth of the biosequence databases Derwent Geneseq (DGENE), World Patent Application Biosequences (PCTGEN), and USPTO Genetic Sequence (USGENE), the following changes have been made:

  • The answer set limit for GETSEQ searches has been raised to 250,000 answers. For answer sets larger than 25,000 records, results will be divided among multiple L numbers, with up to 25,000 records per L number.
  • The free HIT (synonym: ALIGN) display format is now available for scanning answer sets in these databases to identify relevant hits.

For details, see HELP CHANGE in the DGENE, PCTGEN, and USGENE databases, or go to www.stn-international.de/newgetseq.html.

For general information about these databases, refer to the STN Database Summary Sheets.

INPADOCDB and INPAFAMDB enhanced with Chinese legal status data

The International Patent Documentation Database (INPADOCDB) and International Patent Family Database (INPAFAMDB) have been enhanced with Chinese legal status data for patent and utility model applications.

Chinese legal status data for 2008 was loaded during week 2009/18. Future updates of Chinese legal status data to both databases will continue on a quarterly basis. Data back to October 1985 will be loaded in the coming weeks, with completion scheduled for week 2009/25.

Use EXPAND in the following fields to view information about Chinese legal status data in both databases:

  • Legal Status Code (/LSC), codes and their definitions in English
  • Legal Status Code Category (/LSC2), simplified classification of the legal status codes

For more information about INPADOCDB and INPAFAMDB, refer to the STN Database Summary Sheets.

CAS REGISTRY Source of Registration (SR) searching enhanced on STN

Supplier, catalog, and database information in the second line of the Source of Registration (SR) field is now searchable in REGISTRY. This information is added to the SR field if a substance from a supplier, catalog, or database is new to REGISTRY at the time the source is processed. With this enhancement, you can now easily refine your search results by using the supplier, catalog, and database information in the second line of the SR field.

For example, search for substances in database sources only:

=> FILE REGISTRY

=> SEARCH IMIDAZOLE/CNS AND DATABASE/SR
        265013 IMIDAZOLE/CNS
       1290763 DATABASE/SR
L1        3262 IMIDAZOLE/CNS AND DATABASE/SR

=> DISPLAY CN SR

L1   ANSWER 1 OF 3262  REGISTRY  COPYRIGHT 2009 ACS on STN
CN   1H-Imidazole-5-carboxylic acid, 4,5-dihydro-1-methyl
-2,4-diphenyl- (CA INDEX NAME)
SR   Other Sources
       Database: ChemSynthesis Database (Chemical Synthesis
Database)

Or, search for substances in a specific supplier source:

=> FILE REGISTRY

=> SEARCH IMIDAZOLE/CNS
L1      265013 IMIDAZOLE/CNS

=> EXPAND ENAMINE/SR
E2       12900     EMORY UNIVERSITY MOLECULAR LIBRARIES
SCREENING CENTER/SR
E3      621523 --> ENAMINE/SR
E4          24     ENDOCRINE/SR
E5          24     ENDOCRINE DISRUPTOR KNOWLEDGE BASE/SR

=> SEARCH E3 AND L1
        621523 ENAMINE/SR
L3        1131 ENAMINE/SR AND L1

=> DISPLAY CN SR

L3   ANSWER 1 OF 1131  REGISTRY  COPYRIGHT 2009 ACS on STN
CN   1H-Imidazole-1-propanamide, N-[3-[[4-(2,3-dihydro-1H
-inden-5-yl)-1,4-dioxobutyl]amino]phenyl]-  (CA INDEX NAME)
SR   Chemical Library
       Supplier: Enamine

For more information about REGISTRY, refer to the STN Database Summary Sheet.
