CHEMLIST enhanced with intermediate list of pre-registered REACH substances

On October 7, 2008, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published an intermediate list of approximately 40,000 substances pre-registered for REACH between June 1 and October 1, 2008 (echa.europa.eu).

This intermediate REACH pre-registration list has been added to CHEMLIST.  Now you can determine if a substance has been pre-registered for REACH, as well as access the regulatory history for the substance.  To determine if your substance of interest is on the intermediate list of pre-registered REACH substances, refer to the EINECS, ELINCS, or NLP section of the Inventory (INV) field.

To learn about how other databases on STN can help with REACH compliance, refer to the STNews article, STN - Reliable data for REACH compliance.  Additional information about CHEMLIST is available in the STN Database Summary Sheet.

Current-awareness alert (SDI) setup and editing enhanced

Current-awareness alert (SDI) setup and editing has been enhanced for all STN databases.  All update field code options are now displayed when you set up or edit SDIs, including SMARTracker.  For example, in CAplus:

=> SDI
ENTER QUERY L# FOR SDI REQUEST OR (END):L1
ENTER UPDATE FIELD CODE (UP), UPM, UPIT, UPI, ED, UPP OR ?:.

The update field code in parentheses is the default option.

Enter HELP UPDATE at an arrow prompt (=>) in your database of interest for details about current-awareness alert options.

  • DGENE
  • INPADOCDB
  • INPAFAMDB
  • PCI
  • PCTFULL
  • USGENE
  • WPIDS
  • WPINDEX
  • WPIX

US patent numbers can now be searched with or without commas and/or spaces.  WO patent numbers can now be searched with or without slashes, commas, and/or spaces and with two- or four-digit years.

The enhancement has also been applied to LINPADOCDB, LINPAFAMDB, LPCI, and LWPI.

WPIDS, WPINDEX, and WPIX enhanced with Canadian PCT Applications

PCT Applications entering the national phase from the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) are now available in Derwent World Patents Index (DWPI) on STN(WPIDS, WPINDEX, and WPIX) from July 24, 2008 to the present.  Coverage is based on the "Canadian Patent Applications" disks published by CIPO, starting with Volume 2008/001.

In addition to the bibliographic data included in Canadian (CA) national filing records, PCT Application records include Application Details (ADT) that link the application to the original PCT filing:

  • Filing data
  • Publication data
  • Date of entry into the national phase (labeled PCT Nat. Entry)

Example:
